"To get started, we just need a word from the audience"
Gaming Gourd's current project is IMPROV FIGHT NIGHT! A 2.5D beat 'em up combining the sensibilities of improv comedy with the showmanship of professional wrestling. The enemies come at you fast but the audience suggestions come at you faster. Adapt to the crowd to become the king of the ring.
Background:
In October of 2023, our studio, Gaming Gourd, hosted an internal game jam called Gourdtober, resulting in a short demo and a game design doc for a game called Bobby's Baking Bash! This game was centered around the humous idea of a Halloween play going awry when its lead actor had to step down last minute, sending their inexperienced-in-acting-but-great-at-boxing cousin in his stead. Having no idea what the play was actually about, Bobby decided to roll with the punches - literally! - and turned the whole show into a boxing theater show. While circumstances led to us not being able to continue this project, the end of November saw us reviving and revising the idea into what is now our core project - Improv Fight Night!
This project is currently in active development.
